Porridge is a great way to start the day as oats are high in fibre which means that the energy will be released slowly throughout the morning so you won’t feel hungry for hours.
Oats also help stabilize blood sugar and lower cholesterol and are high in protein. Oats come in many forms but the best options are the less refined ones like steel-cut, rolled, flakes, and bran.
If you can, opt for gluten free oats which will be easier to digest. I love Bob Reds Mill for gluten free products.
The porridge is made nice and creamy with the addition of the almond milk which is dairy free. I topped the oats with a few goodies. The banana supplies you with a dose of potassium and natural added sweetness. The chia seeds are high in fibre and omega 3 as well as being very high in protein. I also added some coconut for a dose of healthy fats but mostly because I just love coconut. I also added some milled flaxseed which is high in fibre and omega 3 fatty acids.
So I can safely say this yummy breakfast bowl will supply you with the energy you need to power through your day.
Add the oats and almond milk to a saucepan and cook until all the liquid is absorbed. Top with banana, chia seeds, coconut flakes and flaxseeds. Serve immediately. Feel free to experiment with your topping choices.
All my love,
